I was born in Bridgend, Wales and spent my childhood moving between England, Ireland, and eventually Southwestern Ontario, Canada, with my family. From a young age, I had a passion for reading and went on to earn an Honours Degree in English Language and Literature from Wilfrid Laurier University. I also pursued a Masters degree at the University of Waterloo, but eventually made the move to Toronto and began a career at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
For the first decade of my career at the CBC, I worked in radio before taking a year-long sabbatical to travel the world with my wife, Linda. We backpacked through South-east Asia, Africa, and India, and upon our return, I began working on various music, arts, and entertainment internet properties. Beginning in 2010 I held several roles at CBC News, primarily as senior photo editor, a role I held for over a decade, and also a stint as senior producer for online images, video and multimedia.

In addition to conducting photojournalism workshops for the CBC across Canada and participating in the company's mentorship program, I have guest-lectured on journalism at Canadian universities and recently led smartphone photography workshops for field workers at the World Bank.
As a lifelong learner, I am always seeking new opportunities to learn and grow, including earning a certificate in digital photography from George Brown College and by taking courses at the Dundas Valley School of Art.
Outside of my work at the CBC, my photography has been featured in a range of newspapers and magazines, including The Toronto Star, The Indian Express, GEO (Germany), Spacing (Toronto), and various online news publications. My work has also been featured on the covers of Sotheby's Art of Living and the Colorado State University Literary Review.

I have exhibited my photography in both the United States and Canada, including at the Toronto photography festival Contact since 2003 and as a participant in the annual Heritage Toronto project, Building Storeys. In addition, I have had two solo exhibitions and my work was featured in an exhibit of urban exploration photography at Resistance Gallery in London, England.
My photography has also been exhibited in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada, and has been purchased for private collections, including for display at a Toronto law firm. My work has been featured in the coffee table book, The Art of Decay, and has been used to promote the Norwegian National Opera's performance of Lohengrin.
In addition to my photography, I have a range of other interests, including volunteering with the literacy organization Frontier College and the Canadian Media Guild, and exploring other cultures through travel to 29 countries (and counting!). I have a deep love for music and reading, and you can find my book reviews on GoodReads.
I am also deeply interested in mindfulness and the practice of visual perception, particularly through landscape photography and drawing. In January 2021, I left the CBC to embark on the next chapter of my career, with the goal of continuing to develop my photographic and other artistic skills. Let's see what the future holds.
